The W3C validator is your friend - you have many coding errors. To start to get the cross-browser styling you want, you need to start with valid html, and it is also much easier when you use the appropriate html elements for the job at hand.
Grouping the left column contents within there own div was a good move, but this entire container needs to be floated and given a width, not the individual contents. Similarly, the Google ads column can be treated the same way. If the content div then gets margins to clear those two floated areas, it sits nicely between. Try this cleaned-up html (html 4.01 strict due to reasons that have been discussed at length on these forums before) :
Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<html>

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">

<h2>Australia - Paid Online Surveys Directory</h2>
<p>Here is a list of paid survey sites for those of you living in Australia. I've chosen only companies which offer cash rewards. These companies may also offer sweepstakes, gift certificates amongst other nice prizes, but ALL of them pay in cash for their surveys. I will be updating this list with about 20-30 more sites sometime in September, so stay tuned.</p>
<p>Do understand that the reason Survey Geyser doesn't have the long directories of 300+ surveys is because we concentrate on the companies which actually offer money and not just sweepstakes, prizes and/or gift certificates. While these items may be offered at times, ALL companies we list will usually offer cash as their main incentive for surveys.</p>
