That's exactly what the site is about.. Articles, MP3 Players, MP3 Software, News, Forums, Polls, etc.. there is nothing illegal about it. I will also sign-up as an affiliate of emusic.com which btw, sells legal music.
This site is basically about MP3 and not about music as such.
I personally think that if you work hard at it and have the right mix of information, that it will be very popular. I have yet to see a site with similar content.

An mp3 site does not have to have popular illegal mp3's to be popular. listen to what he said.
He is not distributing any MP3s. He is making a site about MP3s. There is a big difference.
Take sitepoint, is sitepoint a webdesign company? No it tells you how to make a site yourself.
Will his site give you an mp3? No, it will tell you where you could find them, the laws about them, how you can put them on a CD, the best software for playing them, the best portable mp3 player to buy etc etc etc.
As to how to make your site popular? Well one thing that really turns me off is websites going microsoft. By microsoft I mean trying to have a piece of everything. I used to have a list on egroups, but then they started trying to be more than just a list service so I cancelled it, and thats a great example. Just concentrate on your niche, you'll be more successful if you have alot of info on one niche, if you try to cover more it just confuses people.
