    Unhappy Unclikable links in IE6&7

    see Nahid Fashions for example of the issue

    All links in the main body of the page are not clickable with IE. FF is fine.
    This just started happening today. The header and footer are fine.

    Please, can anyone tell me how this happens and how to fixed it.

    Thanks

    Thumbs up Solution

    I seems that adding some simple css has fixed this problem:

    a {position:relative;}

    That did it. But I don't know why the problem occurred in the first place.

    The IE filter often cause these sorts of bugs and position:relative is needed to create a stacking context to bring the anchors on top. I very much doubt that the problem just started happening today but rather that you only noticed it today.

    It's something I like to call a "depth sorting error" - and as you noted, adding position: relative; will fix it 9 times out of 10. The "10th time" however, you may have to add a z-index to bring the links to the top.

    Of course, other browsers understand this and will have no complaints if you use it, so there's going to be no need to hack for IE in these cases. Just put the code in there so all the browsers can see it while giving IE the "helping hand" it needs every once in a while.
