Red face Perl code writing out in browser?

    Hello,

I don't know anything about Pearl, and I'm trying to install Twiki which works off of Pearl.

My question is pretty generic. When I go to a Perl file in my browser, it just writes out the code instead of actually executing the script. Is there something I need to change in the .htaccess or does Perl work differently?

I'm not a savvy programmer so it's been hard to find an answer to this.

    Thanks,
    Elise

The server might not be setup to run scripts, or you are putting the perl files in a folder that is not setup to run scripts.

Also check if the file is marked as executable (+x flag) - chmod it to 755...

Just to extend onto this. If you have a cgi-bin folder then drop your Perl scripts into there and cross your fingers for success.
