Your comments on my new site:
I am struggling with what to write for the introductory paragraphs, so if anyone would like to help me out, that would be great.
Sorry but i agree. It looks unprofessional. If i was looking to spend the amount of money required for a laptop i would not be reasured by this design and would leave.
Thanks for your comments. I haven't had as much time as I would like to create a novel design, it is a fairly standard template-based design. It does at least allow the user to quickly find links to UK shops for buying a laptop with the table in the top right corner.
The layout is not the problem the design is. While i may be able to find the links i am actively discouraged from clicking on any of them by the look of the site.
I'm not a fan of that style of layout, but it feels way to boxy to me. If your going to do the box model I like a fixed sized based on 1024, but also with a lot of element separating the content areas. With your website I didn't know where to look, invest in a proper graphic designer and your conversions won't be sorry Cheers.
Thanks for all the comments. Does anyone have any suggestions for the wording of the opening paragraphs? Some suggestions for things I could say would be great.
One thing I've just noticed today is some new hyperlinks appearing in my Google ads. Along the bottom of them I now have hyperlinks to:
Laptops | Laptops UK | Buy Laptops UK | New Laptops UK | Laptop UK | Buy Laptops
Google has obviously changed something today.
Design definitely is the main issue here. One of the first things to stick out to me are the links. They are all generic blue and hard to differentiate. Try adding different styles to the different kinds of hyperlinks.
First, try to find some free templates that have the design or layout that you want
You can change the banner (or header) to a different background or picture, you can add pictures, or remove them. Make it what you want, you can change it later if needed.
Do you want a one, two or three column layout
Do you want the navigation on the top, right side or left ??
If on the top, do you want a dropdown menu ??
What will you include in the footer
below is some template sites and some template generator sites
If you want to modify them. I suggest a good HTML/CSS Editor such as Alleycode (its free) http://www.alleycode.com/
and a HTML Validator http://www.htmlvalidator.com/ (it is also free)
Or you can use the sites to gain info on how to change yours to what YOU WANT. Remember CONTENT is KING
hope this helps

Might want to try "How to choose a laptop to fit your needs"
then lists the qualities and drawbacks (good and bad points) for different applications (ie screen size - memory - wifi - battery time - hard disk size - reliability etc) then list the brands and price range that fit different applications.
hope this helps
No offense, but you obviously have no clue what "design" means, or do you seem to allocate any importance to it (because if you did, the site would not look the way it does), but unfortunately, because of the lack of a decent design, it makes me (a consumer) think that your site is nothing but a total scam-hole.
Go hire a designer/developer so you can concentrate on the business side of things.
I didn't quite understand at first sight what the site was all about. Is it supposed to be some kind of directory for shops selling laptops?
Also, I think you should work a little more on the design. There are too much whitespace above and below the paragraph on the first page. Your logo is OK, it's looks like it's a 5 years old one, though, and it doesn't exactly fit in with the rest of the design.
Well, I'd say that the only thing good you've got going right now is the color scheme. It's a very nice, subtle gray and white, with touches of blue, so that's good.
Your biggest problem is layout. Everything is scattered everywhere, so there is no place to focus.
Try looking at web sites like yours to see how they lay out their text and images in terms of organization. At the very top will be the header. The header will often have the logo in the upper left hand side and a tagline, with links or a banner ad on the opposite side.
Below the header will be a horizontal bar of links.
Right below the header/ navigation will be the main copy in a one, two columned grid.
Below that will be the footer.
Organizing your site in this way will give it more legitimacy.
Your web site also has to stop looking "desperate." Right now, it looks exactly like someone hoping to snag revenue by jamming his site with tons of affiliate links. If you want to earn revenue, that's fine, but cramming it with tons of ads and links with very little original content is a turn off.
Look at the sites listed below to get ideas - then either use a template, listed previously and modify it; or use a template generator and make your own.
LaptopConnect—Wireless Laptop Solutions
Rent a computer
use the designs on these to get an idea, then try again to make your site
Remember "content is king" if you have articles about wireless they help. Also how to troubleshoot them. Nobody wants to call services and get India and the problem trying to understand their instructions. List different routers and the advantages (like lynksys and d-link) what is the address (192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) and how to connect or how to test (ping) or how to check the present address (start>run>cmd>ipconfig>enter) etc. then you will have a good start
hope this helps
You added content - that's better
but your writing needs to be in short paragraphs
put important points in a list with bullets (not .45 caliber)
you can use illustrations or pictures
The internet is a graphic media (not a text media)
people will not read a lot of words unless you make it simple ("KISS" principle)
or its very important - like steps on how to remove viruses or recover your computer or setup some software.
hope this helps
You have 66 validation errors (may not be important as business sites have more)
may want to work on description and keywords
here are some suggestions
<META NAME="KEYWORDS" CONTENT="Access points, Wireless accessories, wireless adapters, broadband adapters, Routers, Wireless-N PCI Adapter, Wireless-G Router, Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter, Wireless USB Adapter, Ethernet Adapter Kit, PCI Adapter, Wireless Access Point, Wireless Router, USB Adapter Bundle, Wireless Notebook Adapter">
hope this helps
I really like the way you designed it, very original. The font you used is excellent too, never seen that one before
I would make product pages look a little more appealing. For example:
I would make thumb nailed images of each product. Upon clicking on thumbnail I would pop up a new window with a larger image of the product and more detailed description.Or alternatively I would give a more detailed description of the product. This would make pages more informative. I would also change the order Price-Product to Product - Price, just psychologically for the visitor, you want the visitor make stay longer on the page and you can't guarantee that someone does not have better prices, you just state that in you introductory blurb. Most images are of different size which makes the page change often (e.g. page 1 and page 13). Make an effort and get the images all the same size. Give it a whip and try and you will see the difference and the page will look much more appealing, professional and attractive to visitors.
I agree with a lot of others that this site needs a lot of input before it looks very nice...
You have a section called "Laptop Battery Finder"
May want to add an article "How to check your laptop battery"
or "How to recalibrate your laptop battery"
these can be found on the internet from the respective companies or computer help sites.
Will help give your page content
hope this helps
