    Question Oop & Dom

Reading about, i sometimes come across references to DOM. Is DOM an extension to OOP or is it a different approach to PHP programming in it's own right? What are the advantages and disadvantages to using DOM over OOP?

Uh, you're getting confused. DOM is the XML Document Object Model - a standardized interface for manipulating XML documents.

Most of the time DOM is represented as an object oriented class structure, but doesn't necessarily mean that it needs to be (libxml2 is plain old C).
