I am starting this topic so that we can list our experiences with the best (and the not so good) banner exchanges out there. Some are a waste of real estate on your site, but others have proved to produce hundreds of targeted visitors and are an effective form of free advertising on the Internet. Give me your opinion. By the way, one of our web site properties lists and reviews banner exchanges -- so any negative or positive feedback may be implemented in the next update of our banner exchange list.

We only accept webmaster-related sites, so you can say that it's very targeted. At first, we offered only button exchange, but after we expanded we started to offer banner and cube exchanges as well.
Our exchange ratio is 9:10, which is while not perfect, is considered pretty good.
We are just starting out (1 1/2 months old) but we already have over 50+ members which include many of the popular webmaster sites like kresch.com, websitegoodies.com, echodev.com, etc.
I've heard good things about the WevDevExchange as well...talked to Boris about it and it sounds *very* good.
As soon as I get off my butt and finish MyCoding I'll likely join.
