    Need ideas about domain

I am looking to buy a short name .com .net or other that is more memorable for my game site (in signature) ....

site is not branded yet so I could choose a different brandable name if I found one worth it ...

Could not find any nice .com so I started thinking about using stuff like
    gr8 > great (gr8 for great)
    3 > e
    0 > o
    1 > i

Do you think those would be easy to remember by the visitors ?

    Any suggestions ?

Teenagers used to sms would easily remember a name like gr8. I came up with a bunch of domain name ideas, but all of them were taken. Onw I thought up was for sale: progamer.com.

If you come up with a great idea publicly, someone will purchase the name for 6 dollars and sell it to you for 600. Careful

markus, thanks for the reply, I understood this before you posted it,

that is why my discussion is more general .... don't want specific names ...
just trying to understand whether replacing some letters with number would actually be remembered by visitors of my site ...

If your domain is short enough it will work but you will have to go through a branding exercise, IMO you should try to find a dot com with game or gaming in the domain, ie clickongamer.com, gamerexperts.com, gamerfast.com are all still available.

Usually when I am looking at names to buy, I will search expired domains first. Typically I will look at the "fire auctions" from GoDaddy. You are able to select from the advanced search "buy now" and a keyword, then sort by price. This will bring up all the expired domain auctions that are $5's. With carefully searching you can find some gems in there. If I can't find anything in there I will look at the $10 expired auctions, a lot better quality names but tend to sell for more if they have traffic or if they are a one or two word domain. My last resort has been snapnames. They have a lot of quality names, but spending $60 minimum for a domain name kinda leavesn a bad taste in my mouth. I would recommend the "fire auctions" then move on from there.
