Round Corners on Images - Fireworks4

Hi all

A totally ignorant question as I have only had Fireworks4 for a week.

In simple terms, not familiar with layers yet, how do I put rounded corners on my images with say a drop shadow?

Also when I try to save the image ( which is a JPG )
all I can save it in is PBG format. I have tried save , save as etc but the only option showing is PNG.

Is this standard or can I change it?

What you can do to get rounded corners for your image is to select it with the rectangle marquee tool and in the objects tools menu select how much roundness you would like. Once you have the desired shape selection copy and paste it into a new image and you will now be able to add a shadow effect.

To save your image as a .jpg use export preview.

Will give it a try. Before I go is it possible to do this in Adobe Photoshop 6?

Yes, it's very easy in PS6 as well

Just use the select the shape tool from the toolbar, and then the rounded rectangle tool, you can just click and drag it to any shape you need (you can adjust the size of the corners as well).
