domain name resolution

I have cable connection to the internet with static IP. Can someone explain me how can I(and other) access my site running on IIS through my registered domain, for instance typing www.mydomain.com in browser. I already created nameserver at my domain registrator and entered my static IP number. However that doesn't seem to work. I can access my site if I type my IP in browser, but not if I type my domain. What else do I need to do on my machine or in IIS to make this work?

You need to set up some kind of dns system on your server.

You say you create nameserver entries in the registry at your domain registrar, but did you actually create nameservers? That is DNS servers?

Why not simply use a DNS service like everydns.net and be done with it. Change your domain record to point to ns1.everydns.net and ns2.everydns.net, then define your DNS records on the www.everydns.net website and after the normal propagation delay, you will be all set.

Running your own DNS for one or two domains is pretty silly.

yes I'll setup dns2go on my machine, because i can't setup dns server since i'm runing windows xp..
