    Unicode Code Character

    Hi All,

    I am hoping someone might be able to help me out. I require the symbol code for the Greek Alpha symbol to insert into an HTML doc.

    I have tried ths site:

    http://www.hclrss.demon.co.uk/unicode/greek.html

    Although the α and number code doesn't seem to display.

    Can any one help me plz?

    & alpha ;

    putting that (without spaces) in your html page worked for me IE 5.5 WIN NT, which did you use? what browser did you test on?

    I have found that some older browsers don't support some characters though....

    Hi Sarah,

    Thanks but I tried that it still never worked. I am using IE 5.5. I checked it in HTML Tidy and it didn't come up as recognised.

    hmm that is really quite strange, you cannot see the 'alpha' in your browser... and we are both using IE 5.5, mine worked and yours didn't...

    okay [here]α[/here] can you see that alpha? in this post? if not what do you see nothing?

    I agree that it won't be recognised as its only ascii figures that are recognised and aplha isn't on that, but why you cannot see it in your browser.. hmm I am going to check the settings to see if there is anything there..

    .. sorry not much help...

    If you go here and go to section A2.Entity Sets, you can download the Unicode entity sets. They have all the hex codes you need to include Unicode glyphs in your [X]HTML. The Symbols set is the one you are after.
