Storing Articles

Hello All. Ok, if you have a website where you write articles on various topics, how do you store all of these various articles? I mean, a website like Sitepoint has so many articles or stories written on various topics where, do they (Sitepoint) store all of this information? Is there a particular database that is built, to hold and store large written content like articles or stories?
