Giving each new member a .com/theirmembername

Hi, I was wondering the best way to go about giving new members who sign join a community I'm creating their own subfolder of my domain eg www.domain.com/crankin . This will no doubt have to produce an index.html file within that fiolder for it to be picked up by the browser am I right?

    Yes, you're right.
And if you want your member to be able to use crankin.domain.com, you'll have to add some lines to your root .htaccess file as well.

For the subdirectory part you don't need to create a new folder for each user at all, you can simply use mod_rewrite to send everything past domiain.com to a script which then loads the relevant user page.

I agree with Dachande663. You can just use a simple mod-rewrite rule to turn something like

    www.domain.com/members.php?name=crankin

    into www.domain.com/crankin
