Very surprising results...AOL sites are listed #1...

    Microsoft #2...

Yahoo #3! I figured with Yahoo.com, Auctions, Mail, GeoCities, etc, they'd be #1...I know they were only a month or two ago. Their purchase of eGroups might help push them to the top again...

The highest site I've never heard of? I think Go2Net at #14...they don't sound familiar.

Other than that nothing is terribly surprising...maybe PassThisOn.com - nice idea, but doesn't come off as all that professional.

Go2Net is a search engine that searches other engines. Being a webmaster, you should have known that!

I used to use it all the time, but I don't use engines much anymore, for some reason.

Aidan: Yeah, I probably should have...havn't "webmastered" in a long time though...so MyCoding will have to refresh my memory as time goes on.

So many search engines...I'm convinced only 3 or 4 would satisfy most search needs out there...most (in my opinion) will die out in the next couple of years...only the best will move on.

I personally use Hotbot alone. It is the most comprehensive with about 40% of the Internet indexed and it hooks in open directory project data.

I use different engines for different needs. Sometimes a direcotry engine (such as Yahoo!) is handy, while other times I use HotBot, AltaVista, and even Ask Jeeves.

Engines are good for different things. I couldn't use just one engine because each has its strong points and I don't think one specific engine stands apart from the rest.
