    Hosting for a PHP CMS

    Hi,

We have a CMS that we are looking for a host for. The application is developed in PHP and all sites use 1 MySQL Database.

One large host we are looking at (PIPEX) offers dedicated servers and there is room for flexability in terms of adding clusters etc. However they only offer Plesk. Part of our CMS allows emails to be created through out control panel and this needs to be linked to our web hosts email system which plesk can't do.

Does anyone know of any other web host software/ web hosts which provide a 100%SLA?

Go careful with 100% SLAs - They tend to be there as a marketting gimmick these days and if you read them carefully a lot of them only give you compensation once an hour of downtime has passed - Which isn't 100% uptime at all. They also tend to have very low payouts i.e. For every hour you're down, you get 2 hours compensation - hardly worth it.

Go careful with Pipex servers, I've just seen the experience of someone with a server from 123-reg and if you want root/admin access to the server then they stop providing all support to you, so if anything breaks, tough.

How does your system create the email addresses? Does it interface with the hosts control panel? Or does it manipulate the relevant files itself?

    Thanks,

This hosting will be direct with Pipex with proper support. Not 123 or webfusion.

The system does not create the web address. Its a bit cumbersome as when the user adds an email to the system, we get an automatic email with the details, and then we manually have to add the email address to Plesk. Do you know if there is a plesk add-on to allow integration between our PHP scripts and the Plesk control panel.

Pipex/123-reg, doesn't really make a huge amount of difference to be honest. It's all been sold off in different pieces at the moment.

Having never really used Plesk, can't answer that one, I know CPanel has a full API that can be used, but that obviously doesn't help you.
