To do this, you will need a host that supports server-side languages such as either PHP, ASP, ColdFusion or JSP.
Have you taken a look at HotScripts? They have a lot of scripts in these languages.
i uploaded "PCS is a combination of Philogin and Philboard" instead of just the log in. my other Board didn't work(At all-YaBB) well i upload PCS and it worked, YES! but. some of the links didn't work like the log in and other main things.
Yeah, I think it still has a few bugs (hence it being a beta version). I'm sure he'd be happy to receive any issues that you've had to help him make it better.
I just use the login app, and apart from a few spelling errors, it works brilliantly.
The links on the log in don't work either, maybe it's something i've done. i just put the log in on the website. and just added a few things. and thats it.
what have i done wrong the same thing the some of the main links don't work
I'm using Philogin, not PCS. i do i just modify the Html? do i need any thing eles, i use Front page 2000. yes i know it is for none-experanced people. i know how it works.
From memory, just read the comments in the readme.txt or at the top of the index page, they're pretty good instructions. I haven't got it to hand to help you out, but you need to make sure you're pointing to the correct database.
You need to insert the contents of the index page into whatever page you want the login box to appear. Make sure you include the header information and any <!--#include.....> parts that are outside of the <html> tags.
Does your web host support server-side-includes, Access databases & ASP?
Some experience of ASP will help, but you really don't need to change much besides the database connection string.
If you wanted, send me the page you're trying to get it on, and any files you think I need, and I'll try and have a look at it after the weekend (I'm away). Make sure you've tried the above first though!
I've just had a quick look. The Welcome back bit should not appear below the login in bit, this appears when you have logged in. If you have altered the access database in any way, do a test by using the original database you downloaded (i.e. a 'clean' unaltered database) and see if it works then. A type mistmatch error like the one you have will be due to an alteration in the ASP code or the database.
You could set up a seperate page, say in new folder, and put all the original files in there. This is what I did, I made sure it was all working somewhere else on my server, then moved it to my proper index page.
