MySQL Help

Ok, I just installed MySQL on Windows 98SE. I am trying to get into it but whenever I click on mysqld.exe in the bin directory it opens and closes really fast. There is some text in the window in DOS but I can't read it since it just closes. Please Help.

Go to start... run
Type Command and press enter
Use DOS to navigate to the directory that mysqld.exe is in
Type mysqld and press enter

Don't worry, that is the normal way for MySQL to startup . If you press CTRL+ALT+Del and take a look at the active processes, you will notice that MySQL is in that list somewhere as well.

Ok, I understand now about mysqld, but where do I type the commands in at? There are alot of those EXE's in the bin directory.

Why don't you consider something like phpMyAdmin, which is a GUI for MySQL and works quite nicely? You can take a look at it here: http://phpmyadmin.sourceforge.net

you can use the mysql.exe executable for entering commands thru the command line interface....
