How delightful? Did you use food color? Jello powder?

    Thanks!

Datura, I've used food color, yes. A plate, an eye dropper - not from Photoshop , a stick to fix the focus where the drop will be landing - it'd be impossible otherwise, a mini tripod and my kid doing the dropping
You have to experiment with a faster shutter speed.. and have some patience.

Oh it is great! Just really well done. When you take a thicker liquid, that is why I mentioned the jello powder, you get a slower process and have more time. Milk is also great, it makes the crown.

I loved the color shift in the droplet itself.

Finally took some water shots. The first is when small waves brake on the shore, the second is the natural foam that forms when water gets whipped up.

Finally some water shots from me too. :P Finally shots from me period...

This was taken from a park about one block from where I work during my lunch break. These statues are a famous duo that are often photographed in our town. They are called: "Spit and Spat"... I can't remember which is which.

Another one of Spit or Spat...again, not sure which one this is. These statues were vandalized two years ago. Our residents was not overly happy that some punk kids would stoop so low as the vandalize something so artistic and memorable to our city.

Another shot from the same park. This is a monument in honor of veterans who gave their lives (in our region, I think) in WWII.

Another park, a private/public rose garden, mostly only open to private residents (authors, poets, screen writers, actors, etc...).

Same park as above, but a little distance away. I found this shot hilarious since it looks like the statue is peeing in the water. The statue is actually of a female model who is sitting on a fish that is spouting out water - but from behind, the angle...just brilliant.

One of the newer hotels that were built on our town's Broadway put in a water fountain that lit up at night. Originally I took this photo more for the "light" topic, but I feel it belongs here more. I'm still learning how to take night photography - I'm horrible at it. Anyone have some links?

Across the street from the water fountain, a different motel was watering their grass which also reflected the light from the sidewalk. I liked the reflections of light.
They say, "Practice makes perfect," yet they also say, "Nobody's perfect". I don't get it.

    Dan,
    Great shots.
Your choice of a fast shutter-speed makes a dramatic effect; capturing the water as it 'dances'.

Sara, where is this? When I looked at the picture I had this impression of a cool damp breeze. The smell that comes with rushing water in a mountainous area. The even sound. When I was a girl, I spent some weeks in the Switzerland Alps. The hotel leaned to a wall close to a loud waterfall. At first it was hard to sleep, then it became routine. When I returned home I could not sleep because the constant sound was not there any longer.

See what kind of memory you have caused with your lovely picture?

I'm glad you liked the picture Ulrike; it definitely is pretty there. That river is found right here in the Great Falls Park, VA.

Thanks Sara. Nice area. I have spent some time around this part of the country, but never visited those falls. I love the whole area, and now that you live there you can enjoy it

Ahh. How I love visiting Great Falls Park. You have brought back some pleasant memories of my 17 years living in that area.

Thanks, Andy. Yeah, that's 3 individual bracketed exposures HDR processed and tone mapped. Back in the days before I got my gradated filters. That said, I've been back there since and I still HDR is a better way of capturing the scene.

That is a wild shot WebDesignGold. It must have been windy when the water froze. I have never seen ice in that way.

The pink reflection in the water is enchanting messyhead. I love peek-a-boo pictures
