Non-US Hosting
I have an account with mediatemple. I like them a lot but i have been getting some takedown notices because I link to copyrighted videos i find on google and youtube.
I'm looking for a non-US host to help get away from some of the copyright laws.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Copyright extends world wide so you will need to look for off-planet hosting if you want hosting where you can disregard the law on Earth.

It is OK to link to copywrighted materials. It is not however to link use them in violation of a law.

MPAA sues 2 sites for linking to copyrighted material
Fortunately for the movie studios, both companies are based in the US and maintain servers in either Texas or Arizona, making them an easy legal target.

Try these:

www.NahNahYouCantGetMe.co.jp
www.StealAwayTheInternet.se
Alright, kidding kidding - sorry.
Google for non-US web hosting you'll find some, but don't make the assumption that a non-US web hosting company uses a non-US data center.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good non-us web host. I don't want to pick a random one i find on google and hope for the best. i don't need another dreamhost fiasco.
Thanks

At the risk of angering the sitepoint gods.... you might want to ask over at webhostingtalk.com. That is a huge community dedicated strictly to hosting. I think you'll get more plentiful response over there.
good luck.

Even if you embed, youtube and google are still hosting those videos, you don't need to find a host in a country without copyright, you need to find a host that doesn't consider a link to be a violation of copyright.
isoHunt has been successfully hosted in Canada for years ... some differences but the principals are about the same in my mind.Using your unpaid time to add free content to SitePoint Pty Ltd's portfolio?
