I'm not complaining, I usually get the book the day after I get the email telling me it's been shipped

Yeah, I have a mouse pad for 2 primary purposes:
    • I have it half draped over the corner of the desk so my wrist doesn't hurt from the ridge gnawing into it.
    • Without one, my mouse gets all kind of gunk on the bottom. I'd clean my desk with that spray stuff, but that requires me to leave my chair.

On topic, I would love a SP shirt. I think it would be cool to have a cute little thing in front that's tech related, with a huge SP logo on the back. Basically I love logos that basically take up the whole back of the shirt, and shirts with witty, comical images on front.

What I mean by that, is basically something like this design

I think a nice price would be $14.99 USD, with $6 or so for shipping. Also, rotating would be nice, and to keep up with it SP could have contests where if you're picked 3 times, you get a free poster/video. If you're picked 5 times you get a free book, and 10 times you become president of the company. ;D

I think selling mousemats and mugs will be the best idea as they will go straight into the office area where professional programmers and designer will view the benefit of mentioning SPF.

Another idea that comes to mind is a screen saver, but not just a plain boring one. What about a screen saver that does something useful? Like SETI?

P.S. - If a mug is made please pm me

While I'd love to buy SP shirts, my main problem is that the price would most likely double or triple because of customs and VAT (which is added both as a base fee and as a percentage of the entire package value, including postage). It isn't even possible for the value to be declared at 0, because customs will open all packages, and estimate the value if they consider the declared value too low. Thus, it'd be a bit too expensive for me, I'm afraid.

I think that SP would probably succeed at this new venture as they have a regular, guaranteed traffic through the forums but, even though I participate actively in a regular basis and as much as I like SP, I don't buy branded items. Sorry.

I will prefer to buy books from Sitepoint rather than Tee Shirts.

A very good cotton Tee Shirt in India will cost US$ 6 to 7.

Don't shoot the messenger, but check this pic I took of a shirt in a sports shop in South Africa. (attached).

    What a rip!

Oh, and I was lucky enough to get one of the original sitepoint versions of this shirt. I hope they didn't see me and copy it... either way, lame!

I don't see any issues with it, actually. "Eat, Sleep, ____" is a somewhat common saying.

I would only ever consider buying a branded item if it were of some use to me, and value for money. I dont really do gimmicks, especially when im paying for it.

What about USB Memory sticks, Keyboards, Mice, Headphones etc. Maybe a little too adventurus, but hey. I'd buy them!

Yes I would be interested in SP gear if I can pay local shipping rates. Meaning if SP somehow manages to find a local distributor.
