I am upgrading a site that is currently hosted on Freeservers. It is a site for a music band, and it's probably going to require space for 5 MP3s, and maybe another 20 MB for video.
So, I am looking for server space that will host atleast 40MB and a minimum file size of 10-15MB. To upgrade to the next tier of Freeservers' service, it costs about $120 /year USD.
Does anyone know of a cheaper host? maybe even Canadian? Is there a good site that compares hosting companies?
$120 / year is about average, but you didn't state how much they are giving for that much a month
Cheapest ive see is for $6.95 a month for 100 megs
(but the bandwidth was like 3 gb a month)
All around good ones are about 500 megs, unlimited emails, 30-50 gb of bandwidth (and that's what yOU should be conscerned most about) for a bout $20 a month
so five mp3's at about 4mb each plus a video at 20mb
so 20visitors a day will be about 3-400mb in images/html and other stuff plus say half of you visitors downoad 1 song and 1 per day downloads a video, thats 40mb/day which is about (give or take) 1.5GB of transfer all up... you would want to make sure that you dont have to pay for extra bandwidth... its expensive if you buy it *after* the event
