    Site maintenance Message

    Hi i have to shut down my music website for design revamping and other maintenance issues... for a ta least a week... I need a nice and simple message to tell visitors, the site is being revamped and maitained and that it will come back in a week or two...

    I have not seen a lot of good examples on this. One site did have a countdown page, with a different screen each day. Text explained the new features which would be added.

    I would focus on 1) Quick contact details 2) Any advantages of the site revamp

    A very important thing to add to the message is some sort of time element as to when your site is due to be back online. If it's an ecommerce site that I'm working on and it needs to to shut down for a while I always add an estimated time when the site will be back online - this is reassuring to customers!

    Why do you need to shut it down for a week? You can work on your site in another location, and put up a maintenance message if you want during the short period it takes to copy the new site in and test the changes.

    yes but there was a problem with some kind of hack or whatever that caused the loss of crucial template files so the site looks broken...
