    Angry .htaccess error

    Hello everyone,

    I have created the .htpasswd
    Name = develop
    password = develop
    It created me the .htpasswd as
    develop:59DQtVkPTS4jk

    I just copied and pasted in the .htpasswd file and tried logging in.
    It jsut doesn't allow me to log in, Infact when i typed the password as 59DQtVkPTS4jk it allowed me in...

    Can somebody help in this ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Warm Regards

    umm php?

    If you have cpanel try password protecting using the built in tools... i've never got those .htpasswd things to work, but I haven't tried too hard either.

    htpasswd has nothing to do with php, if you want to control access with php, look into php sessions

    Hi

    Iam guessing that you have not understand my problem.

    I want to protect the directory so iam using .htaccess and .htpasswd for the same.

    Now the problem is I have created the .htaccess and .htpasswd and uplaod.
    my .htpasswd has develop as user and develop as password i.e
    develop:59DQtVkPTS4jk

    so logically if i type develop/develop it has to allow me to the folder but unfortunately, when i type develop/develop it is not allowing me but when i type develop/59DQtVkPTS4jk as username password it allows.

    Hope i have explained it more clearly this time.

    PS: Iam not using any PHP script.

    Warm Regards

    umm maybe you didn't encrypt it properly

    http://www.tools.dynamicdrive.com/password/

    I don't have any proof but I have a feeling that this is an easily foiled security measure so you might want to consider something else.
