Attached sound with preloader?
Hi all,
I noticed in Flash when you attach sound (using linkage) with AS or directly in a layer the player forces the sound to load before the first frame.
If your sound file is on the large size visitor get a blank movie until the sound loads by which time if your using a status preloader its up to +50%.
Does anyone know a work around for this without using external files?
thanks
been thinking about this one. does it do it even when the sound is set to stream? i wouldn't think so...
Yeah, that would make sense why it would need to do that. Why don't you just make a movieclip with the sound in it, and set it stop();. Then when the sound is needed, just call on .play();.
If you cannot use external files, I'm afraid there's no way to preload them...
ill check out the streaming option but i've got a funny feeling Flux is right - you cant do this without using external files.
is it too late to get this much needed option added to the Flash 6 wish list
