    Question Page 25: "The Art & Science of CSS"

    On page 25, at the last point, it is stated that "Outside the content div is an unordered list used for a pagination-style navigation"

    I couldn't find it in <html> code at page 24.

    Where is <ul> ?

    I don't have the book, so what does the HTML code from the page look like?

    Starting from head:

    <head>
    <title>Photo Gallery</title>
    <link type="text/css" href="gallery.css" rel="stylesheet" />
    </head>

    <body>
    <div id="content">
    <h1> <a href="#">Photos</a> &raquo; <a href="#">Album:
    <em>Firenze, Italia 2006</em></a> &raquo;
    <em>Castello Il Palagio Orchard</em></h1>
    <p class="photo"><a href="#"><img alt="Photo: Castello Il Palagio Orchard" src="images/photo.jpg" /></a></p>

    <p class="description">A beautiful day for a wine-tasting and tour at <em>Castello Il Palagio</em> in Firenze, Italia.

    Hi Santha, if you look at the title of the code block, it says "photo.html (excerpt)", which means that isn't necessarily the full code.

    If you examine photo.html in the downloadable code archive, the full HTML looks like this:

    Code HTML4Strict:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">
    <head>
      <title>Photo Gallery</title>
      <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
      <link type="text/css" href="gallery.css" rel="stylesheet" />
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="content">
      <h1><a href="#">Photos</a> &raquo; <a href="#">Album: <em>Firenze, Italia 2006</em></a> &raquo; <em>Castello Il Palagio Orchard</em></h1>
      <p class="photo"><a href="#"><img alt="Photo: Castello Il Palagio Orchard" src="images/photo.jpg " /></a></p>
      <p class="description">A beautiful day for a wine-tasting and tour at <em>Castello Il Palagio</em> in Firenze, Italia.</p>
    </div>
    <ul class="navigation thumbnails">
      <li><a href="#"><img src="images/thumb1.jpg" alt="Thumb: Graffiti" /><br />&laquo;&nbsp;Graffiti</a></li>
      <li><a href="#"><img src="images/thumb3.jpg" alt="Thumb: Ponte Vecchio" /><br />Ponte Vecchio&nbsp;&raquo;</a></li>
    </ul>
    </body>
    </html>

    I'm not sure why the unordered list is not presented in the book though - it's probably something to correct for future print runs.

    Thank you very much Simon.

    I like to code while reading. You should include <ul> code in future, as some readers like me don't use the code archive.

    You should also include it in errata.

    The code archive is a valuable resource when working with these books.

    The bullet point mentions the ul prematurely -- it's not supposed to be in that code listing yet, but gets added to the markup later (on page 32). I'll get that bullet point removed for the next reprint and the errata page updated.

    Thanks.

    Update: errata page updated
