    nesting/layering ps slices

Is there a way to keep my photoshop overlapping/nested/layered slices intact upon export? All my nested layers come out as subsets and auto-gen files filling in the gaps.

Imagine, if you will, a document representing a web page: header, left nav, body. I have a slice called body that contains the entire psd document, then a subslice that contains just header, and one that contains just the leftnav. When I export, I want body to contain the entire doc, but instead, it's just a subset-- the body minus the header and left nav!

(simplified example-- the real psd deals with repeatable header bg and such, which is my real issue..)

I'm not clear on what your goal is. Have you tried to transfer your files to ImageReady and work with the exporting there? I think you may be trying to do something that the Photoshop software is simply not capable of doing.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I never really realized that ImageReady is still a separate product (thinking it was integrated into Photoshop with its Slice tool and Save for Web), and I've never used it as a stand-alone product.

The end goal is to be able to use the slice tool to draw out overlapping slices for export that remain intact as I've defined them-- the way I know how to do it now is not working because overlapping slices result in partial User Defined images with the remnant segments as Auto sliced images. The only workaround I know of now is to first define _all_ my slices, then export User Defined, then delete the _overlapping_ slices, then export User again, and repeat until all overlapped have been exported. Then I redo history back to all before saving the psd again.

When I get a chance, I will check out ImageReady and reply back here again once I do.

Please post your request for help in the appropriate forum and also post your photoshop file with slices you want... else it is going to be very difficult to understand what you want.

Hmm-- Moved or Re-Moved? I can't seem to find the thread.. I have a suitable solution, and I wanted to share it with the community.
