    Question tools

Hello, I would like to know which kind of tool (or IDE) are you using to develop (on Rails) on MacOS???

I'm looking for a tool that has an integrated debugger and a subversion client, any idea ???

How about Komodo IDE (4.1), is someone using it ???

I have read that Textmate has these features (debugger and subversion client), is it easy to configurate ???

    THANK YOU
    Alla prossima ...

I've been using TextMate for 3 days now, and so far I love it. and I haven't even started getting into its many features..
I say give it a whirl, it is a free trial for 30-days.
It is the only thing (besides TextWrangler) that I've used for OSX (all 5 days of it.. yay new jobs)

I've been using Textmate for almost a year and I still learn new things in it all the time. I think it's one of the best editors available, but I can't compare it to Komodo since I've never used it.

I dont know about the debugger or svn.. I use commandline svn, and textmate does auto refresh when you update files through svn [shrug]

I just use the command-line subversion. As for the debugger, I run unit tests through textmate which is pretty easy for Rails apps, but I've never really needed anything more advanced than that.

Textmate doesn't automatically make subversion changes when you move files around in it's file manager. For the sake of raising the bar, I'll call that below average subversion support.

    About subversion.
The way to use it with Textmate is to check the documents out (with a subversion client), to make the changes in Textmate and after to check them in always thought the client. is it right ???

I don't think that Komodo IDE offers subversion support, but I could be wrong. I may be thinking about the lighter version that they also put out.

If you are on OS X, you really can't go wrong with TextMate, especially for Rails development. It is THE standard for Rails development, and there are tons of great docs out there to get you going quickly. It is used by core team, it is in every screencast you will see about Rails, and it has excellent built in support for both Ruby and Rails.

In place of answers driven by more Textmate expertise, both svn and debugging functionality are better handled by other tools.

That's my understanding as someone who uses Textmate every blue moon.

If you prefer a GUI interface to SVN, then SVNX is an option.
