Question Hosting my own dedicated server?

Is it possible to host your dedicated web server from your house?

What type of connection would be sufficient? How much?

Exactly what software would I need and what kind of costs would be involved?

I would need a unix/linux server that has mysql, php and perl.

    -Yes

-it depends on your bandwidth usage

-stuff that comes with linux; time

Hosting a "dedicated" server by yourself is a bad idea, especially since you don't know what software you would need or if it's even possible (no offense).

You should outsource your hosting needs to a regular host: they can guarantee you much better uptimes than you could provide yourself, plus you get free support, maintenance, and numerous other benefits.
