Question Software that can find what file PHP code is in?

Has anyone found any kind of software or is it even possible to have something that can tell you which file a selection of PHP is code is in? So for example if I wanted to edit the footer of my site but didn't know where to look it would tell me to look in templates/footer.php? If this is possible it seems like it would be very useful.

Dreamweaver has a search in all files inside a site project feature. Find & Replace > Find in > Entire Local site or Folder...
    Logic without the fatal effects.
