It has a lot of the Pieter Brueghel feel to it, so very much still alive in the rural spots in northern Europe. When you take a bike tour or a hike from little village to little village, you can feel as though time has stood still for a long time. And those signs reminded me of those earthy people.

That was a fortunate accident. I took that picture near sunset, facing west (hence, nearly into the sun) and I guess it caused the camera to be fooled because the wall was actually more tan then blue.

It surprised me when I opened it in Photoshop, but I wasn't unhappy.

    I shore' was purty'.

That's because of your "white-balance" setting at the time.

I'm so disillusioned now! My camera was set on automatic. If I can't trust my camera what can I trust!

    You made me homesick Sarah

Great doors, the old heavy ones are the best, and they also have a deep smell as well…

Doors to a closet in my house:

Upon closer inspection, we see the latch and the cat sign. The latch is there to keep the cat out b/c he learned very young how to open the doors! At least he hasn't yet learned how to work door knobs.

A few "doors" from around town. I find doors a little boring, so I tried to be a little imaginative on two. :P

A neighbor's mailbox with a lovely barn "door".

An old castle-style building's door, still intact and usable - I think it's a church...whatever it is, it's a religious building (I have a picture of it, but am waiting for the "architecture" challenge).

In the private/public (mostly private, some public) rose garden in town, there are signs all along the grass that say not to enter, but in a "hidden area" (I didn't see it on my first few visits) behind the rose garden itself, there's a pathway that leads to this gate, or "door". I just thought it looked interesting. On the sign, it reads: "PRIVATE DO NOT ENTER"
They say, "Practice makes perfect," yet they also say, "Nobody's perfect". I don't get it.

I know this is an ancient thread, but am I allowed to add some doors that I have?

The day after a wedding in the village, we assume the hanging of the wedding bouquet is some Italian tradition?

How lovely jantheman. The wedding bouquet picture is really great. I like that you took it at an angle, not straight on. It has a much more intimate feel that way.

Thanks Datura. These were also taken in Sermoneta, like my stairs. I have lots of beautiful pics from there.

The old cabin. Nice shot mangia. There is a whole culture out there of this kind of imagery. Where was this taken? A museum?
