    Hello all,

I have been wanting to know for some time what is better,
-third party marketing websites that claim to do it all
    -marketing software
-going to the search engines every month to check on the sites yourself.

This sounds great Wayne and helps answer my question above. Forgive this newbie, but I would really appreciate it if you could kindly point me in the direction of a good marketing website. I need to know how to "customize" my cleints websites and learn more about "integrated marketing plans".

I have a new client that wants me to aggressively market their site in the top search engines. They are willing to pay, but cannot use banner advertising (Lawfirm). I would like to market for them to generate revenue for my little business. I need to know how to do it right and get the rankings on the major search engines. I have marketed some smaller sites and have a good understanding of the basics. However, for this client I need to know everything about search engine placement.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

You can start by looking at: http://www.articlecentral.com/cat.asp?deptid=50
This section at Article Central has articles listed from websites all over the internet. It is updated regularly and provides many different views.

Some other sites that I have visited in the past are: http://four-guys.com/home.html http://www.eboz.com/ http://www.marketing-success.com/ http://www.marketingtips.com/

You might also read the marketing articles listed on this site. Often times they lead to marketing sites created by the authors of the articles with more information.

For each different search engine and Yahoo you want to read the advice they have listed about getting your site listed. Follow their rules even if it means creating a different index page for each site as this will improve your odds greatly.

Even with all this information available on the internet I find that I am still drawn to books for the majority of my education, especially since I can read the books while commuting on the train. You can find lots of books on marketing in the medium to large bookstores. Look in the small business section and in the internet or computer section for a variety of titles.

I hope this helps some more.

Thank you very much Wayne. I will go to those URL's and start to read. Now if I can just find some loooooong craft projects for my little ones to do while I try to do all this.......

    I have one more question,
Since my children are small (short attention span you know) and I may not be able to find all the time to research the search engine marketing, do you have a third party marketing company you could suggest. I found http://www.proboost.com/index.html
Do you know anything about them Wayne?

Thanks so much for you time on this matter.
This is such a great help. I enjoy this forum so much.

    Have a great week.

I don't know of any companies that do third party marketing. I will check out the site you mentioned though. As for crafts for the little ones you can try out www.makestuff.com. They have different crafts for all times of the year.

Laura, once you (or a third party) have added your client website to search engines, you will have to show to your client how well its site rank. I suggest you use the Freeware we have developped AgentWebRanking Freeware.

Thanks Fabienf!! I went and checked out your site and it looks very interesting. I also found http://selfpromotion.com and have been reading all the information there. I think I will combine help from your freeware with that of selfpromtion.com and go from there. With the help of the links above from Wayne, I feel confident that I can market my clients sites effectively in the future.
Thank you all for your guidance and help.

I'm a "retired" search engine consultant, having returned to full time web development.
My website, Cre8pc Website Promotion, has covered promotion and search engines since 1996.

I highly recommend that you visit http://www.searchenginewatch.com and get to know Danny Sullivan's site as well. Eboz, operated by Michael Wong, is also widely respected in this field.

My site offers affordable solutions, tutorials, a web design directory and free submission page that offers up to date info on the status of engines and directories, as well as introducing new ones.

Cre8pc Website Promotion is at http://www.cre8pc.com

Be wary of any service that promises rank.
There's no such thing, especially these days due to abuse of the submission system. People new to submission and promo are getting ripped off. Arm yourself with knowledge before risking a client.

    All the best to you!

Thank you all for your help with this matter. I have certainly learned alot this past week, and know that it is only the tip of the iceberg. This forum has been very helpful. I have bookmarked all the sites mentioned to me. Off to read again.
