PHP sessions don't work!

Hi there,

I installed PHP 5.2.1 on IIS7 on Vista.
Everything runs fine, including MySQL and other extensions.
Though...there is a problem with sessions/cookies.
Whenever I create a session, like logging in, it doesn't work at all.
How can I troubleshoot this?

You're one of many separate threads having issues with sessions - so I'm guessing it's something to do with php 5.2.1 - how many other people are having this issue.

Strange...I wonder.
I got it working on another machine with the same setup.

I guess not then. I'm a Mac/UNIX person and a stranger to Windows filesystem permissions - but are they right?

If there's no error there, try restarting apache and/or your computer, failing that, see my post about database-powered sessions and the relevant thread.

I currently have PHP installed in "C:\PHP"

I edited my php.ini configuration file and set new paths for the session.save_path and upload_tmp_dir

Then I ensured that these folders exist and in the security tab of the properties dialog, I added the user "IUSR" with full read and write permissions.

Something else is missing here...

If only I could run Apache on Vista...
I don't code in ASP.net at all, but there simply isn't an Apache solution for Vista.

Seems like Xampp released a new version.

I'm downloading it now and will give it a shot.

It is Windows Vista. And you can run Apache on Vista but you have to give/run as Admin.

But yes sessions have problems on Vista. I never got it to work so just went back to XP.

How do you get PHP 5.2.3 for work with IIS7?

I added the "C:\PHP\php5isapi.dll" to the Handle Mappings but all i get is "Handler "PHP" has a bad module "IsapiModule" in its module list".

I have Apache working.
