I know that sitegadgets.com for a small fee will set me up with a script for an on-site poll (where visitors vote and then get immediate feedback on vote tally)--sitegadgets.com will do it for free if I want banner ads, but I don't. Here's my question: is there somewhere/someone who will do an on-site poll for me for free, WITHOUT ads being involved? Or, can someone point me to a site for a cgi script that will do it that I can, possibly, learn how to install without killing myself? Any help appreciated!. PS:what's "shtml"?

You can find many polling scripts at http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Program...y_and_Voting/. Some of these cost money but most are free. If you don't have access to a CGI-BIN and are on a free server move to one that provides these services like Hypermart.com.
SHTML is an extension that by default means "ServerHTML". This extension tells the server that you have SSI embedded in the document. Read this article and it will tell you more about SSI and why it is worth your time and trouble to use. http://www.webmaster-resources.com/a...rticle23.shtml
