How do I ensure my WP blog is widget enabled?

I have a client who was trying to install a plugin but the plugin won't work since it's not widget enabled. I've seen that phrase tossed around but not really sure what how one goes about ensuring that my creation for the client is widget enabled?

Are you talking about the hosted WordPress.com blogs and not the WordPress software?

I'm talking about .org and not the .com version.

This is the plugin that client wanted to install and it says it has to be widget enabled; http://kzkw.net/blog/2007/05/22/simp...posts-widgets/

I believe "Widgets" was a plugin created for WordPress.com hosted blogs since you can't install normal plugins on those. The "Widgets" plugin let you add "widgets" to your blog sidebar with just a drag-and-drop. It's now been included with the core as of 2.2, so you don't need the plugin.

Here's info about "widgetizing" your plugin, and getting the Widget plugin itself for your client if he's not on 2.2:
