Weekly Photo Challenge - Dirty
Alright, it's that time again. Time to capture the essence of being dirty. Should be an interesting one!

Wow... not many replies.
Okay... I'm going to try to remember to shoot something for this challenge next week.
I still have a cool idea for that fruits and vegetables one but I never got the chance to do it. : S

Dirty, yes... but is dirty always a bad thing??...
There were too many differnt colours and it was too distracting so I converted the photo to greyscale in Photoshop...
Here's the thing, though... the bandana in his hand was red, and as some might know... red looks very dark when it's in greyscale. So dark that you couldn't have seen the contrast between his dark skin and the cloth.
Therefore, I had to go into the levels and shift the red until it was light yellow... THEN convert the whole thing to greyscale.
There's an impromptu digital photography tip for those who care.

His hands and brush and rag were dirty with paint.
I agree with you, though... the idea doesn't come through clearly, but the thread was despirate for some new posts.

I have another one as well, interesting and dirty in its way. I was after I was finished taking the pictures. I must have had about 150 mosquito bites and feet… wow.
Mucky and salty dirt on the edge of the water where mangroves grow. The mangroves have *air-roots*, roots that stick out of this dirt to have access to oxygen, they would die without it. There is a whole ecological system around these roots, crabs, baby fish and the salt water mosquito.

About time you showed up, Micky
You got some nice dirt there.
Enamel is pretty nasty, I must admit. But you know what is even nastier? Silk dye. That stuff is protein dye and when you get it on any skin, it gets into it actually, stays until the cells shed. Extremely *dirty*.
So: Let's have the latest dirt

This is a pile of trash that I photographed at the Isle of Wight Festival over a week ago. It always strikes me how Dirty people are when they are at festivals. This was just outside the main entrance where you had to throw away your cans and drink bottles before going into the site.
This one is of the Jimmy Hendrix Garden at the Festival when everyone dumped their plate to watch the Stones. What I can't believe is there were trash bins all over the place - I guess too much booze makes people lazy.

Interesting shots.
My mom went to the Isle of Wight back in the day... I think she said it was Jimmy Hendrix's last show... or something.
So, why all the rush to see the stones play??? Lol! (jk)Last edited by mhulse; Jun 20, 2007 at 17:26.
