How learning RoR has helped my PHP programming.

I recently posted on my blog the article Why bother to learn Ruby on Rails.

In my personal experience, learning RoR has helped improve my overall coding (with PHP or whatever).

    What has been your experience?

I have learned more using Rails in the last month than I learned in almost 7 months of programming PHP and creating/editing Textpattern plugins.

I am sure that my PHP programming would be better now that I have started really learning RoR, the only problem is that I will never go back to PHP to find out. I have seen the light, and there is no way that I could ever sit down and do it, knowing that a better, faster, easier, more agile way of doing things is out there.

Glad to hear your good experience. You never know, you may end up having to use PHP one day. I have client sites that use it. Unless there are some major changes being made, porting them over to RoR doesn't make sense for me.
