Div tag overflow only in FF. Help!

I'm working on a site for a client that requires i use Css, so i was forced to learn it

I'm finally getting the hang of it, save for one question. My div tags in IE stretch to accommodate excess content, but don't in Firefox. I'm using Firefox v2.0.0.4

I've heard of the ills of coding for IE before firefox, but this seems to be the only nag now. Is there a way around this?

It's going to require a rewrite, but yeah it can be done. Do you HAVE to have the set height columns, or can you let them extend all the way down? (A faux background column may be required here.)

i'm not sure i follow. If you mean a div tag that has a background that makes it seem like it has 3 columns then yes i do have a faux background column. I tried the 100% height thing with the divs concerned but it doesn't go all the way down.

The thing is, 95% of your problems are in the stylesheet. Specifically the fixed height. You *could* add a height and overflow: auto; to the actual_content DIV, but not every browser will respect that the way your code is written (and it'll force a vertical scrollbar in the middle, as well).

You have explicitly set heights to various elements - whilst IE will incorrectly expand them, compliant browsers respect the set height. You need to remove the heights from #main_content, #right_col, #left_col, and #midright, then clear the floats using overflow:hidden; in the #main_content css.

Elements are NOT to expand to contain floated elements. This is a bug in IE.
