You know at first I thought this was going to be about drift racing... but then I saw Datura made it and that would have really been weird if she was drift racing.
I don't know what drift racing is...

I am a secret lover of stuff like that. I also like Harley bikes and the connected culture. It was always strange to me how the tattoo crowd loved my work until I started to think about it and found many parallels.
I think what it is, is the positive and live affirming mentality that has appeal to me. There is a happiness and romanticism in it as well.

That's when you and your buddies get these HUGE lether straps and fasten them onto a floating continental ice shelves.I don't know what drift racing is...
Then you stand on the ice and hold onto the leather reigns like a lasso... like you're riding a bull...
...and float with the ice... trying to get to the warmer topical waters before your buddies.
Drift racing. It's great fun.![]()

That's 'cause you've never tried it.

what else do we need?
interesting that you chose 5 emoticons rather than a more standard 4 or 6.
4 and 6 in music is a pre-concieved standard. 5 is considered unusual. Do you think that these ideas of music and its meter can influence art?
Personally, I always tend to write music in an unusual time, I like 5 for it's disjointed feel, and for the same reason I like 7, 9 and 10.
You'd be surprised how much music today is centered on a 4/4 time signature.

I like 5 as well, not just musically speaking, but just as a graphic. 4 is static, in music as well. I tend to like off the shoulder stuff, one sided but balanced.
Art is music and music is art. Have you noticed how often people with an artistic bent like all the arts, how often they can not decide which ones of the disciplines to pick as their field?
Perhaps, I was always good at sketching stuff.. something that fell off as I learned to play music, still now I wishI had kept with it and learned how some programs worked. But yet I've come around to that again in web graphics... and we're born to learn I believe.
A good guy I work with who recently part-retired (who was at the top of his game) said that the most dangerous time of life was for those who retire completely severing ties with their work.
I hope that I will never retire, mainly because I always will expect myself to have something to learn.
Keeping the mind active is what he said mattered, and also that time apears to speed up as you get older. ( I can myself say I can feel that happening now, at 25 )
The more active your mind, the more time seems to speed up... this was the result of our discussion..

Yes of course, retirement is a horror, it cuts people off of their life really. But retiring from what you love to do is even worse. I will never retire, what I do is who I am.
I just started with all the computer related things some 3 or 4 years ago. I am almost 62 years old now. Never had the time before. But now I have and I just dive into it and learn and enjoy the learning.
I think you make the decision to never stop learning early in life, when you realize how valuable this knowing is. That is what separates the geeks and nerds from the crowd that has the notion that sitting around for the rest of their lives is so great while making fun off the people of the mind.
I am glad that you understand that Andy, I am glad that there are so many people here on sitepoint that think this way.
Agreed 100%. I will retire the day I die. Silly though, but I hope the day will never come.
Uhm, so what do you guys think of tattoos? Have any? Regret you made them, or on the contrary, consider you was missing something before you had them? I kinda toy an idea lately of making one, what do you reckon?![]()
