I guess this is the end of the story then, when a guy starts crying into his beer, that is a sad story ________________

    haha... true.

Sad thing is I'm sure that's the ending to most stories... well most real-life stories.

Books and movies tend to end on a more optimistic note.

I prefer the happy endings as well, but I also prefer a book or movie that has real worthwhile characters in it, the ones you can empathize with, the ones you root for. We had some really soft characters going in this little story. Maybe the guy who cried in his beer had an epiphany and became a hero, who knows?

Maybe we should resurrect him as a strong type?

I always find the most engaging protagonists are the ones that are both strong and weak... or ones in which their strength IS their weakness - Like Macbeth, whos vaulting ambition was also his downfall.

It is true in most stories, in real life as well. There are very few truly strong people, people who choose to live by high principles. If you pretend to live by those high standards because you know that they are right, but you can not truly do so for varies reasons, it will knock you over in the end, and those are the characters that you are talking about. They are the kind that will cry into their beer because they recognize their own weakness. It is self pity.

If you cannot stand up for the things you know are right; then you are dead inside anyway or worse still a sheep.
There are three kinds of men:
The ones that learn by reading.
The few who learn by observation.
The rest of us have to pee on the electric fence.

Actually I was more talking about the rumours that New Zealanders (New Zealandians?? New Zealots ??) really really love their sheep...

And I mean love their sheep...
