Google got rid of visited link colors - oh oh

Usually I have visited links the same color as unvisited links on my sites. But for black text on white background sites like google the links usually do change color.

So when I went onto google today I was thinking "wait i opened those links in tabs, why arent they purple? :S". After checking I hadnt messed up any cache settings I realised google had got rid of chaning link colors.

There have been discussions about unvisited link colors before, but since google is such a huge site with millions of visits a day I thought this was quite big news...

Will this affect other designers? Do you think the change was correct? (I dont)

    link color

The visited links change color for me. It isn't your cache settings you need to check. Take a look at your history settings. Visited links changing color has been a standard convention for as long as I can remember (I don't remember it ever being otherwise). Having them not change would introduce a usability issue sure to confuse and annoy (some) users.

I just checked again and I'm sure its not just me being stupid. The links change color on other sites, but not on google.

When I use the firefox option to force sites to change color of links, only then does the google links change color.
