photographers online viewing and purchasing system

Hi All
I have been asked to design a website for a starting professional photographer. She wants to incorporate clients acces to their photos on the server via username and password. She also wants to allow clients to purchase online.
My PHP Mysql level is at the sitepoints 'build your own database driven website' finishing pages.
I guess my client will also need a CMS for the images clients etc.
Should i take a shot at it or opt for purchasing some system that is already out there. All advice appreciated thanks
