How would I go about auctioning a domain name? Are there any specific sites that can provide information on how to transfer domain ownership and billing? Any help is greatly appreciated!

AfterNIC is OK, but overzealous domain owners try to inflate appraisals of their names.

eBay is OK to, but people mess up the integrity of the site by asking insane prices for their domains.

The important thing to know is that Network Solutions will charge the new owner for registration as well. Also, did you hear about races.com? This guy bought it and started the tranfer process with NetWork solutions. NetSol botched it up, and the guy lost the domain. Just be careful.

www.greatdomains.com provides a 3rd party escrow service for domain names for a flat fee of $500 US.

I would stay away from greatdomains.com if I were you. They are unscrupulous domain squatters and if you support them, you are supporting people that probably own a good domain or two that you want and are trying to sell it to you for a million bucks.

This is great Domains' business, and there's nothing wrong with it. It's like buying a piece of land you think people might want later.

And it isn't the people who bought races.com fault either, that they saw something open and registered it.

Who is at fault? NETWORK SOLUTIONS IS AT FAULT! They were the ones who screwed the whole thing up.
