I am working for a client who wants a "splash" page or opening page added to their web site, he wants to be able to navigate to most of his site through here. The problem I am having is, his existing site utilizes frames, if I make a link to any particular page how can I get that page to come up inside the one frame with the menu on the side in the other frame.

Each frame has a name. For example if the menu frame is called 'menu' and you want to open a page named frame.htm in that frame you need to link to <a href="frame.htm" target="_menu">

You should advice your client that frames are not the best option - especially for a splash page. Splash pages are useless and excessive anyway, but beware a lot of search engines will have problems indexing you if you have frames - especially on the front page.

I agree...frames need to be useful very carefully.

I think Commish was thinking of http://www.orioles.com/ which actually in fact does use frames. Just a guess.
