Weekly Photo Challenge Idea
Hi.
I have an idea.
From now on, when we're posting a photo in the weekly challenges, I think we should also state what camera was used, any filters used, and any post production done.
This is to help satisfy curiousity, also to allow everyone to be critiqued on their own level, and, most importantly, to allow us all to better learn from each other.
Great idea. ...assuming it's not a point-and-shoot (with regard to filters, lenses, etc...).
They say, "Practice makes perfect," yet they also say, "Nobody's perfect". I don't get it.
Actually that'd be good too...
It'd be nice to know what the point-and-shooters can achieve.
Hell... even camera phones!!

The most common photoshopping I do is adjusting the colour levels or bumping up the contrast.
You're right... that would be hard to remember.

Every now and again I have to erase a piece of litter from my background too.
I think its a good idea, although I wonder how many people just have point and shoot cameras. I would bet more people than not would have a point and shoot.

Now, now...let's not discriminate.
For those who have a point and shoot, they could simply give the camera model - which is basically what I meant; the point-and-shoots would simply not give the miscellaneous information.

I'm not discriminating, malikyte... and I hope it didn't sound that way.
I really honestly just want to know what people are using.
For example in one of those photo challenges I remember asp_funder posted something that looked like it was done with a point-and-shooter, but people were telling him to make adjustments to his exposure time and whatnot.
If we know what people are using when they post something we'd be better able to guess what kind of advice they are capable of getting.
I can definitely encourage it in the post each week.
One of the ideas behind this thread is to get those people who may be interested in photography (but don't have a fancy camera) to get out and just start shooting (even with a small pocket camera) which may help fuel their enjoyment of photography in general.That's true, but how many of those people would bother to take part in this Photography forum??

I agree, as I am one of those point and shoot types. It has pushed me a bit to study my camera, to experiment more, there would not have been a reason otherwise because I get my fill of being creative in other areas.
And it is also alright to say so when you show a picture, to say that you just used the automatic setting. It should be stressed really that that is ok, that we all start at the beginning, as not to intimidate members who are just not deeply into it yet.
That encouragement might give the incentive to a member to go out and feel free, without the fear of being not taken seriously. At the starting stage people are very insecure, a few words that do not sit right might be very discouraging and the person might even walk away, disheartened. Not all people are bold, as I know you are Shaun, as I am.
