who has used gammadyne for sending newsletters

I just had a potnetial client on the phone and they are requiring a complete newsletter solution.

My first feeling was to have a script developed for them. The script would store sign ups in a db under different interests and then through an admin panel the client could send to each interest group as they liked.

The client has mentioned gammadyne http://gammadyne.com/mmail.htm

has anyone used this. Its seems to be able to do the job although it seems a bit of a pain. For example its an application and it checks your opo server for sign ups and dl's them to build the list. So you can have it search for the text file for interext x and it can send them to group x.

It just seems a little akward and also not a very user friendly interface.

Any experience with this?

I just began using Gammadyne about three weeks ago to send our Monday a.m. opt-in newsletter to about 50,000 people. I run it once to deliver a text-based version and Gammadyne is amazing! It integrated well with our Cold Fusion database like a charm and even keeps nifty logs to show you which servers accepted the newsletter.

I've also found it handy for direct e-mail marketing.

BUT...

It's hell trying to get Gammadyne to deliver our 21kb HTML newsletter to the 35,000+ subscribers left once the text version is done -- takes about 12 hours. But I'm using it through my SMTP server, not through the "direct delivery" function.

In fact, the reason why I joined this forum was to figure out an alternative to Gammadyne for my HTML delivery.

I may not have the program down pat quite yet.

What type of mail is your client trying to send?

I just got Gammadyne's software, and I'm trying to figure it out. There are a lot of ways to configure it, and I don't want anything to go wrong! Don't want to p!$$ off the customers...

One question: Why don't you use the direct delivery method? What do you think are the disadvantages of using this method?
