Will I get my auction days back if sale no go?

    Hi All,
I have an established web site for sale and someone clicked on the buy it now price.
I was wondering what happens if it turns out to be a non sale. Do I get the number of austion days back from the time I accepted their offer. I'm a bit concerned as it's been four days and have not heard from them.

They only joined this forum a couple of weeks ago

    Regards

    Hi there,
GC isn't the ideal place for this post.
I'll have it moved for you.

    Moved.

The auction won't be moved up on the list of auctions but it is also never closed. The auction does stay open and allows for more bids to occur until you formally close it. It does this specifically for this scenario.

    Hi Tridean,

The offer can also be rejected if the bidder does not reply. You should have the option to reject the bid yourself in the left navigation near their user name and bid- It will open your auction back up.

If you have any difficulties or questions, I would be happy to help - just send me a PM

As for how long you wait this is really up to you.

    Hi Megan,
Well what I've done is not reject it but reverse it from accepting it, so other's can at least counter bid etc.

I'll give them another day and then reject it

    Cheers

    Hi Megan,
Is there any way to check where they are from geographically.

This person contacted me around 36 hours ago wanting to know "how do we do this deal?", but as it was sent ot me at around 3am in the morning, I couldn't respond until around 9am.

I've left my email address, my MSN and Skype names, even my telephone number, yet nothing has come back. What is wrong with some people?

Would it be just if I just reject his offer? In other words, are people less reluctant to make offers if someone has already made it public they want to buy it a the buy it now price? Am I going to get more interest if I reject it?

I'm a man who treasures his time, and to me this is time wasting.

    Cheers
    Dean

Well that was a waste of 7 days of Auction time.

No response from this buyer criss5 after 3 days of clicking my buy it now bid. Then a short PM from him, and then no response again for 3 days.
    I have rejected his offer.

Sorry to hear that tridean...SitePoint does it's best to only encourage serious bidders/buyers, but there's only so much they can do. Who knows though? Maybe something came up and he couldn't go through...I'll try to give the guy/girl the benefit of the doubt.
Life would be so much easier if we
could just look at the source code.

    Hi Dean,

I think you acted correctly and you shouldn't have to wait that long for a response from a buyer - they obviously where not serious.

Your auction has reverted back to its 'open' status. Hopefully you will have better luck with the next buyer.

We do try our best to stop this from happening, but unfortunately we can't take sides in these situations.

Good Luck with your Sale Dean
