    Your Camera Brand of Choice

I know us Nikon people tend to be elitists but I've also used a handfull of other camera brands over the years (both film and digital) and I know that ALL brands have something good to offer.

    It begs the question, though...

What is YOUR camera brand of choice??

I chose Sony as that is what my SLR is. But both Nikon an Cannon and jut as good really. My Grandapa has a lovely old Nikon film camera which(until only just recently) he has stopped using as he picked up a Cannon digital compact.

I'm not much of a fan of Kodak. I'm not sure what their upper market is like but their compacts are just awful cameras.

    Canon REBEL Digital

Love it, Canon Zoom Lens EF-S 18 - 55 mm.

I am not a great photographer, just for work and hobby a little bit, never really took the time to finesse the thing.

I'm not a pro or quite good with a camera, just a hobbyist & am learning photography with experience & tips from here & there. I've a Kodak digital camera right now which I've been using for almost 2 years & it gives better pictures(but is a drain on battery) than the Sony & Nikon point-n-shoots of my friends. Am looking to get a Panasonic Lumix this in a couple of weeks or so & so far I've heard/read quite a number of good things about it.

I seem to usually buy Sony, Canon or hp cameras! I am not sure why! The last time I wanted a Nikon D80 but I ended up buying a Sony Cyber-shot!

Canon, for the wide spread acceptance (like Nikon) and ease of finding accessories for it.

Canon for me, but I don't think you can really go wrong with Nikon either.

Also, I wouldn't mind a Mamiya or Hasselblad.

Sony is my main preference, but I don't like their new Alpha SLR digital it just doesn't seem as good quality as the semi pros I own, that's why I'm going for a Pentax K10D early next year, that is unless Sony produce a better SLR digital.

    bloodofeve, I doubt that.

If you're going for an SLR camera, it's best to stick with a company that specialises in SLR cameras.

Pentax is a nice cheap option. I think there was one called a ZXM (I could be wrong) that was pretty well built.

Canon has nice, thrifty SLR models as well.

I've got a Canon Digital Rebel. I love DSLRs - I actually don't like it when I have to use a non-DSLR camera.

    Canon for me.

I like that their products (and bundled software) have, for some time, worked well with Macs.

I have often considered a Nikon and would like to step up to a digital SLR, with powerful optical zoom, from Nikon or Canon in the near future.
