    Example:

    Click on About, then History, i then need submenu below history (also colour coded)

    I have tried but it has become very confusing

    Hi,

    It might easier if you use a solution like this as most of the hard work is done for you

    In my example you would need to extend the logic further.

    e.g.
    Code:
    li ul li ul li a  {background:yellow}
    li ul li ul li{
        width:131px;
        border-left:8px solid green
    }
    body#about #nav li#xxabout ul ul a{background:yellow}
    That will give you your coloured submenu for the about page but you'd need to change it for every body id of course which is a bit of a pain.

    Thanks for the reponse Paul

    When I view your example the navigation does not do anything when you click on the links, it does not reveal sub navigation.

    I have downloaded but it still does not seem to expand or contract to reveal the subnav

    Any idea?

    It works for me, click the arrows (not the links) and it expands the sub-menus.

    Hi,

    I'm not sure what you mean as it is working for me.

    If you go to the front page:

    http://www.pmob.co.uk/temp/drop-down-expand2.htm

    All the menus are closed and then you can open and close the submenus as required. When you click on a link in the submenu it takes you to that page and when you arrive on that page the submenu is open and highlighted.

    The body id's combined with classes in the menu control which elements open on which page but it is a bit long winded and and a javascript solution would probably be easier to manage.
