Nice pics, Datura! Made me think of all the tourist-esque signs that we have around here.

I'm sure we can, but I wouldn't want to be burying a newer thread with an older one just because I prefer it, or because it's more along my personal style of photography (not that sign pictures are, but...). Trying something new, and forcing myself to stick with it for that week may expand my creativity. Who knows, I have a lot to learn.

malikyte -- you can do both though. If you have something that is really nice and it fits into a past thread, I would not hesitate at all. And yes, you are right, the challenge to go for a new thing is more valuable, it also sets up the idea of a deadline of course, which is a good thing to learn if you are not used to it. And all themes will be interesting, it only depends on you and what you make out of the challenge and your interpretation of the theme.

The most mundane subject matter can be turned into something artistic and special. When I look at your pictures, I see that you did not crop them to bring out what you wanted to show in a more dominant way. Try that, you will be surprised what it will do to a photo.

Some great pictures and it's great you got out and took them!

And yes, you can always post in previous weeks threads! We just want to give people a new opportunity each week to get out with their camera and challenge themselves!

Sea turtles come to shore at night here this time of year to lay their eggs. There are groups of people who go to the beach early in the morning to fence those nests in so people won't walk over them. Here is the little sign that is nailed to a post.

Ulrike, that's awesome that people will do that. As a non-native to those beaches, I wouldn't have had any idea that the disturbed sand there was a nest and would have easily walked over that area, unknowingly.

I think that "NO PHOTOS" picture deserves to be reposted in the Irony weekly challenge.

This picture was just too "cute", I had to take a snapshot of it.

This sign doubles as a photo-opportunity for tourists in our town who want to be pictures as a pair of poorly painted pilgrims. It's quite old and although it's been repainted and touched up a little bit over the years, they have done nothing to remove the rust that continues to eat away at the metal underneath. This sign's probably older than I am.
They say, "Practice makes perfect," yet they also say, "Nobody's perfect". I don't get it.

    @ malikyte

Yes, the turtle people are quite active here and have taken thousands of eggs to save them when storms approache to wash over them with the heavy waves, they keep the eggs in boxes in the house until the first sign of life appears. Then they take the little hatchlings out at night to let them crawl into the sea, guided by flashlights. This imprints into the turtles the very beach to come back to as adults to lay their eggs here. It also prevents the seabirds from catching those little guys while they struggle to get to the water, since the birds are daytime creatures. Only the night herons get them now and then.

Those little turtles are soooo cute. Sand all over them, those little flippers going 90 miles an hour. We also shield the beaches from light this time of year, otherwise the hatchlings that are born in the sand orient themselves the wrong way, they come up to the land instaed going down towards the water where the moonlight should guide them naturally.

I love your Dog sign. That is just totally fun. What a graphic

And the two cut out faces…
