SEO is an acronym for "search engine optimization". It is the process of analyzing your potential design and problems for search engines indexing and positioning. In other words, making your web site and its content attractive, relevant and visible to search engines and web searchers.

* keyword stuffing;

* pages loaded with irrelevant words;
* duplicated content on multiple pages;
* misspelling of well-known web sites;
* unrelated and centralized link farms;
* other methods that try to trick search engines.

If you use one of the above techniques, you might get short term results, but it's most likely that your site will be banned from search engines, and therefore you will put your business at severe risk.-

Wow. There's just so much here I don't know where in the world to start! This is a "beginner's thread", and I'm definitely a beginner. In other words, I know my way around html but am unsure about where to go from here. I want to learn CSS & also the basics about setting up a webserver, nameservers, etc. in order to publish my own sites. But the information seems too rudimentary to even be listed in the beginner's guide--which is really really embarrasing. Where do I go to get "web publishing 101"?? (really 101, not dev. help on php which I haven't even gotten to yet...)

You guys are extremely helpful just putting any thoughts up here. Thanks in advance.
